Flesh is the first film of the "Paul Morrissey Trilogy" produced by Andy Warhol. The other films in the trilogy include Trash and Heat. All three have gained a cult following and are noted examples of the ideals and ideology of the time period.

Geri ejects her husband Joe from bed, and insists he go out on the streets to make some money for her girlfriend's abortion. This leads to Joe's various encounters with clients on the streets of New York City: an Artist who wishes to draw Joe, a Gymnast, and another 'John'. Joe spends time with other hustlers, one of whom is played by his real life brother, and teaches the tricks of the trade to the New Hustler. Back home, Joe interacts with his real life one-year-old son. Joe gets back home, presumably at the end of his duty work, and is in bed with Geri and her girlfriend Patti. The women strip Joe and begin to get intimate with each other; Joe gets bored and falls asleep.

Monica proposes to give Dimitris the initial sum, but Mitsos demands the interest as well, suggesting, however, that he is willing to get paid “in kind”, were Dimitris to convince Aliki to have sex with him. Aliki agrees to this deal and is eventually presented to Mitsos as some kind of birthday cake, covered up with whipped cream! Mitsos licks her all over, but is soon confined to his voyeuristic habits, as a big orgy takes place between the two couples in the presence of Ajita and her two lovers.

This movie centers around a group of people that are both very Italian-Catholic and the same time oversexed and jaded European bourgeosis from the late "dolce vita" era.
