In our top story today, a deadly shootout near a Texas college campus between an armed man and police has rattled the community.Three people have been killed in the shooting, the latest in a STRING of violent gun incidents across the country.Here_s the latest.College Station police officer Brian Bachmann was serving a routine eviction notice at a property near Texas A&M University, when the homeowner suddenly opened fire. The gunman, a 35-year old named Thomas Alton Caffall, exchanged gunfire with authorities for a half hour.Police eventually killed Caffall, but not before he had killed officer Bachmann and another man. A 55-year old woman has been hospitalized and is in serious condition. Details of Caffall_s background remain vague, but it has been revealed that the shooter didn_t actually own the house, and was only renting. An official report out of Norway has found that police could and should have done more to prevent the bombing and mass shooting spree of Anders Bering Breivik. The report states that the bombing of the government complex in Oslo could have prevented if new security measures - which had already been approved - had been put in place.The document also states that authorities took a quote unacceptable amount of time to get to the island where Breivik_s subsequent shooting spree took place last July. Breivik has admitted killing 77 people and injuring at least 240 others. A verdict in his trial is expected August 24th. Security officials at New York_s John F. Kennedy International Airport have some serious explaining to do A man recently managed to swim ashore and enter the airport undetected, despite JFK_s highly touted 100 million dollar security system. 31 year old Daniel Casillo was allegedly jetskiing in nearby Jamaica Bay when the engine stopped and he was forced to swim miles to shore. Casillo would have had to walk past motion detectors and closed-circuit cameras to enter the airport terminal, and authorities are baffled as to how he came in undetected. The Port Authority is reviewing the incident to see what went wrong. So much for state of the art security, Erica. I can_t bring a regular tube of toothpaste with me through airport security, and this guy walks right in wearing a speedo? NOT coolI guess if there_s a silver lining to be had here, it_s that they_ll find the problem before something serious happens.
