It_s the only country in the world where women STILL aren_t allowed to drive Strange but true. But they_ve taken a pretty dramatic step towards improving female representation in the workforce. That_s right but whether it_s a step in the RIGHT direction is a whole other question. Here_s senior anchor Victoria Sinclair to explain in your NEWS OFF THE TOP Thanks ladies. In an effort to catch up with the modern world, Saudi Arabia has announced plans to build a female-only city. This would be where career-minded women can climb the corporate ladder without violating strict Islamic laws. A municipality in the Eastern city of Hafuf is being given 130 million dollars in investments to get things rolling. Their estimating that 5-thousand jobs will be created with females runing companies, managing and as well as being employed on production lines. As of right now women aren_t BANNED from the workplace, but only 15 percent of them have jobs. A group of Missouri women are suing their plastic surgeon for posting before and after photos of their breast enhancement procedures on her website... WITH their names attached Some forty patients have complained about the website of Dr. Michele Koo, and a group of them are suing the surgeon for negligence. The problem was only noticed after the topless pics began surfacing in Google searches of their names. Hey, it_s never bothered ME. And a group of unhappy American shoppers have started a Facebook page to rail against a so-called invasion of Canadian bargain hunters Because groceries are so much cheaper across the border, shoppers from Vancouver Canada head south to the Costco in Bellingham Washington. The influx of extra shoppers has resulted in longer lines.Unhappy US citizens behind the Facebook page are demanding that Costco introduce American-only hours, and say the Canadian shoppers are rude. The page was picked up by Canadian media, and once word got out it resulted in ugly mudslinging from both sides. Of course, the whole issue might be avoided if Costco decided to install a couple extra cash registers. Just a thought And that_s your first look at the news. Don_t go away.
