I_m Katherine Curtis. It was the end of an era early Thursday, the KING of late night television, Mr David Letterman, officially signed off the air after 33 years. Eila Adams stayed up late to watch his final show and joins us, INSIDE THE BOX, with the highlights. So how was it, Eila?It was as funny, it was original and even had some tearjerking moments. Tear jerking as in YOU cried or DAVE cried cause he_s not exactly known for being too sentimental. That he_s not, but there was a lot of emotion in the air and I_d be surprised if he at least didn_t get a little TEARY eyed Here are the highlights. It was a fitting sendoff for America_s favorite Late Night host. Dave Letterman opened his last show with a series of Presidential messages - including a special appearance by President The very last Top Ten list was read out by a series of A-list celebs including Alec Baldwin, Jim Carrey, Tina Fey & Jerry Seinfeld, who all lined up to say the things they_d always wanted to say to the late night legend. Along with showing a handful of classic segments, the Foo Fighters brought the house down by performing their smash hit Everlong, a song that Dave has said helped him during his recovery from heart surgery. Dave paid extensive tribute to his own staff through out the episode saying I_ve been blessed to work with people who are smarter than I am and funnier than I am. We_ll miss you, Dave.In other TV news, Simpsons voice actor, Harry Shearer, says he_s voiced his last character for the long-running cartoon. Shearer posted a series of Tweets last week saying he was leaving the show. His characters included Ned Flanders, Principal Skinner, Mr Burns and dozens of other regulars. He was apparently offered a contract extension of 9 million a year but was more interested in having the ability to work on other projects. Former Fresh Prince star Alfonso Ribeiro is taking over as host of America_s Funniest Home Videos. Current host Tom Bergeron will pass the torch to Alfonso for the 26th season of the never-ending series. How much do you want to bet that the show will see an increase in Carlton Dance video submissions?Emmy-winning Mad Men ended its 7 year run on Sunday. 3.3 million fans tuned in to say good-bye to Don Drpgr and the gang. It wasn_t quite a ratings blockbuster but it did set a record in the key 25-54 demographic For those of you missing the series already, here_s a little trivia. According to Glamour magazine, Don Drpgr slept with 17 women over the course of the series. At least those are the ones we KNOW about.It_s only been a few weeks since Samantha Bee left the Daily Show, but we_ve already got a teaser for her upcoming TBS series. The former Daily Show correspondent will be hosting her own satirical news program for the cable network. Here_s a sneak peek:I don_t know any woman who could turn down a nice sausage. Samantha will only be the second female late night host on TV, after Chelsea Handler. No word yet on the show_s premiere date, so feel free to stick with sausages for now. As long as one of those sites is Naked News, we guess that_s okay The study found that users are increasingly using the web on their phone and watching a lot more video content.And a new study has found that unless it_s marijuana or money, most Americans don_t care much about green issues. Eila, Apple has just announced the biggest revenue quarter of any US company, EVER They had a record 74.6 billion dollars in revenue and a record, 18 BILLION in net profit. Those numbers FAR surpassed ANY analysts expectations. So what led to the surge? iPhone sales of course. The company_s new larger-screen 6 and 6 Plus models were flying off the shelves. Apple sold more than 74 million of them worldwide in the quarter. And the momentum should keep going for a while because their highly anticipated iWatch is set for release this April.The forecast isn_t quite as sunny on the US economic front. Business investment spending has dropped for a fourth consecutive month. Economists say it could be a sign that slowing worldwide growth might finally be having an impact stateside. A strengthening American dollar has also made US exports more expensive. However it isn_t ALL bad news. Consumer attitudes remain upbeat, and December saw home sale hit their highest levels since June 2008.And in Russia, things are going from bad to worse. Rating agency, Standard and Poor_s, has just downgraded the country_s credit rating to junk status Half of Russia_s government earnings come from oil and gas exports. And with oil prices falling at staggering rates, the nation has been pushed to the brink of recession. The S&P rating cut will make it much harder and pricier for Moscow to borrow money. Meanwhile the Russian ruble has hit all-time lows, losing more than forty percent of its value against the US dollar. Angie, Russian, Ukrainian, German, and French leaders are set to meet in Belarus Wednesday to discuss an end to the conflict in eastern Ukraine. German Chancellor Angela Merkel has been leading the charge for peace talks, and officials from the four nations held a telephone conference on Sunday. Western powers accuse Russia of arming rebel forces and sending troops to the region - charges Moscow has repeatedly denied. It was a dramatic day in Australia as Prime Minister Tony Abbott survived a surprising vote aimed at booting him from office His ruling Liberal Party has been plagued by infighting in recent weeks. On Monday a secret party room ballot was launched calling for his dismissal. Abbott managed to win the vote by a 61 to 39 margin, but pundits say his grip on power has taken a significant blow. And British bank HSBC is under a fresh round of scrutiny for helping thousands of wealthy clients evade tax payments and hide millions in assets. New documents provided by a former HSBC employee show the bank helped shelter dictators, arm dealers, and various other criminals. The bank says its Swiss branch - which was acquired in 1999 - was not fully integrated into HSBC and had significantly lower standards of due diligence. HSBC now faces criminal investigations in four countries: the US, Belgium, France, and Argentina. We_ll be right back.

As a result, he had to play the final round all by himself Tiger shot a forgettable 74 on Sunday to finish with 302 strokes on the weekend - also the worst total of his career. It was an emotional win on the NASCAR track for Martin Truex Jr. He_d led the most laps in the last three races but had come up empty. That all changed Sunday at Pocono Raceway. Truex took the checkered flag and then had an emotional celebration in Victory Lane with his girlfriend, who_s been fighting cancer. Truex was mobbed by rival drivers who wanted to congratulate him on the win, which he says was easily the biggest of his career.And the 37-year wait is over On Saturday, American Pharoah accomplished one of the rarest feats in sports: winning horse racing_s Triple Crown American Pharoah went wire-to-wire in front of a roaring crowd in the Belmont Stakes. Sorry Don Drpgr Instead, everyone_s favorite badass TV cowboy is getting some well-deserved TV love Here are the highlightsWelcome, inside my box. FX drama Justified is leading the way at this year_s Critics Choice Awards The show, starring Timothy Olyphant as US Marshal Raylan Givens, finished its sixth and FINAL season a few weeks ago. Justified and HBO mini-series Olive Kitteridge both landed five nominations apiece. It_s been a great year for HBO, which garnered a network leading 27 nominations thanks to hit shows like Girls, Veep, and Silicon Valley. The big show will air on A&E at 8pm eastern time May 31stConan O_Brien_s late night show is heading to San Diego to film from Comic Con. The show will even adjust its broadcast schedule to air on the Saturday. Not everyone is on board with the schedule change, though. You can catch Conan bring both worlds together at Comic-Con this July.Watch out Kim, Kanye may be getting his own TV show. The CEO of Vice announced this week that the media company is in talks with the rapper to host his own series on their upcoming cable channel. Little known fact: besides appearing on his wife Kim_s show, The Kardashians, Kayne also starred in a pilot for a hip-hop, puppet show called Alligator Boots. Somehow the show didn_t get picked up.Steven Spielberg_s Amblin TV will produce a show for the Syfy channel based on the classic futuristic novel Brave New World. Set in the year 2540, the outwardly perfect existence of society is offset by a rebellion from an outsider. Spielberg_s Amblin TV previously paired with Syfy on the Emmy-award winning alien miniseries Taken.And the longest running series in television history is about to get a little longer. The Simpsons has been renewed for two more years, bringing the total episode count to a whopping 625. The show still averages 6.2 million viewers an episode but I doubt that there_s anyone out there who hasn_t seen one. And on a side note, and not to toot our own HORN or anything but, Naked News TV is currently working on episode Seven Hundred and Thirteen. Just sayin. And those are just the lines my producer will let me say on camera You can catch the whole hilarious show on Comedy Central March 30thFashion label Dolce and Gabbana has drawn the ire of Sir Elton John The rock legend is calling for a boycott of all D&G products, after Domenico Dolce told an Italian magazine that kids born via in vitro fertilization were chemical and synthetic. Sir Elton has two IVF children with his long-term partner David Furnish. He lashed out at Dolce on Instagram, saying IVF allowed loving people both straight and gay to fulfill their dreams of having a family. Elton_s vowed to NEVER wear any D&G clothing again. It was a rough weekend for British rock royalty Heather Mills, the ex-wife of Paul McCartney, got a bit prickly when asked about the former Beatle on Ireland_s The Late Late Show. Mills said McCartney isn_t exactly a popular name with the younger generations.Does she sound humble or what? Heather_s comments triggered a flurry of angry responses on social media, with many pointing out that almost NO ONE would ever recognize her in the streets. BurnVince Gilligan has a special message to all you Breaking Bad fans out there: QUIT throwing pizzas on the roof of Walter White_s house On a recent podcast, Gilligan called out the quote jagoffs who keep showing up to toss pizzas onto the roof of the Albuquerque home. They do it in homage to a famous scene from the series_ third season. The place is actually owned by an elderly couple whom Gilligan calls the nicest people in the world. Someone claiming to have captured air from a 2013 Kanye West concert posted the bag on Ebay for five dollars... and watched as bids jumped all the way up to sixty-five THOUSAND Ebay pulled the post down and it_s not clear if a deal was finalized, but the posting inspired another dozen-or-so copycats that also received bids.
