And if you_ve seen any of the previews, it looks creepily scary But is it as spine-tingling as The Ring was? Natasha Olenski is going Naked At The Movies to give you the lowdownA Cure for Wellness is the latest from director Gore Verbinski. He_s best known for The Ring and several of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies, though he_s also trying to redeem himself after The Lone Ranger. This movie stars Dane DeHaan as a young executive sent to retrieve his CEO from a mysterious Swiss spa, where things are of course not what they appear The spa in question turns out to be something of a Hotel California, where guests check in and then don_t want to leave. That_s the opposite experience from what most of the audience will have, as they_ll be THRILLED to leave, probably early And with a nearly two-and-a-half-hour running time, it_s really your best option, right after not going in the first place This is a beautifully shot film, and there_s also nothing wrong with the performances, including the always solid Jason Isaacs as the creepy Dr. Volmer. But a thriller that_s all look and few thrills AND an HOUR longer than necessary is my cure for wanting to see it. A Cure for Wellness is in theaters now. Land of Mine is based on the true story of German POWs made to defuse the landmines infesting the beaches of Denmark following World War II. It_s a fascinating look at the literal and emotional recovery process that follows a war. Plus, when it comes to tension, it_s hard to think of anything that can top defusing mines Like most movies with Nazis that DON_T have Indiana Jones, Land Of Mine isn_t exactly a FUN time at the movies. But it_s pretty touching, and it_s never a bad idea to be reminded to look for the humanity in your supposed enemies Land of Mine is out now in limited release.
