Linda Ann Weston is accused of being a ringleader in a plot to steal their social security checks.US Attorneys have charged 3 European men with making and unleashing the Gozi (GO-zee) computer virus. Between 2005 and 2011 they claim that the virus retrieved banking information and stole over 50 million dollars. One man has pleaded guilty with the other 2 awaiting extradition.The FAA in the US is struggling to come up with an explanation for the electrical problems plaguing Boeing_s new Dreamliner jets. The global Dreamliner fleet has been grounded as engineers scramble to pinpoint the issue. The Dreamliners were grounded last week following a battery fire in Boston and previous incidents in Japan.And the US military has taken an important step forward on the gender equality front. Women are now allowed to participate in direct combat units. The policy shift will create a number of new jobs for female troops. International flights into Boston Washington DC New York Philadelphia and other cities have all been canceled. The storm has already left 60 dead after tearing its way through the Caribbean. And rather than weakening as it approaches land it appears that Sandy is getting even stronger with sustained winds hitting 85 miles per hour. Making things potentially WORSE Kat the Frankenstorm is expected to collide with a winter storm AND a cold front.Now I understand the storm_s economic impact could be pretty significant as well Eila.BIG TIME Kat. The New York Stock Exchange is completely shut down. And for those of you into other forms of legal gambling so are the casinos in Atlantic City.That_s a LOT of money that isn_t changing hands. I understand that even the presidential election campaigns are being affected. That_s right. Both candidates have canceled stops in crucial swing states due to Sandy. Mitt Romney has pulled out of an engagement in Virginia while President Obama will miss an appearance in Ohio. The President is remaining in Washington so he can monitor the storm_s progress. He visited FEMA and promised Americans that the agency would respond big and respond fast in the wake of any serious damage. Speaking of the election with just a week to go it_s still anybody_s race In the battleground state of Ohio a CNNORC International survey has Obama with a 4-point lead over Romney. With its first Hindu member its first openly bisexual member and its first female combat veterans - to name but a few - this is easily the country_s most culturally diverse Congress ever. But in many ways this new group will be dealing with many of same old problems left over from the old Congress. And as Rachelle Wilde is about to explain they_ll have their work cut out for them.Vic after being sworn in the first order of business for new Congress members will be to sign a crucial aid package for Superstorm Sandy victims. Voting on a bill for 60 billion dollars in rescue funding was delayed Tuesday night following heated negotiations on the fiscal cliff. Not surprisingly the delay infuriated representatives of storm-hit states including Republican governor Chris Christie of New Jersey. He basically lambasted House leader John Boehner for not alowing a vote on the bill. On top of that major spending issues such as raising the debt ceiling and massive budget cuts to federal programs loom on the horizon.RW) So lots on their plates Vic.VS) And that_s without touching on other hot button issues like gun control and immigration. We know this is a more diverse government but will it be any less divided than the 112th version of Congress?RW) That remains to be seen although there_s definitely optimism that all these new faces - more than 80 in all - will be more open to cooperation than the last group. Either way with such divisive issues on the docket in the next few weeks we_ll know soon enough. VS) That we will thank you Rachelle.

I_m Victoria Sinclair welcome. American authorities are one step closer to capturing those responsible for the US consulate attack in Benghazi. Libyan officials have singled out one man believed to be the leader of the group behind the assault. Eila Adams has more on this story and joins us now with the latest. Vic according to Libyan authorities witnesses at the scene say that Ahmed Abu Khattala was the man leading the charge. Khattala is a prominent figure of a militant group based out of Benghazi called Ansar al-Shariah. The group has many of the same puritanical and anti-western views as Al Qaeda. Libyan police have yet to bring Khattala in for questioning however. Vic US officials acknowledge that they_ve got their eye on Khattala but still aren_t convinced that the attack was orchestrated by just one man.So if the Libyans are so confident of his involvement why haven_t they brought him into custody yet?For one thing the newly elected government there is still pretty shaky. Plus the military and police force aren_t exactly organized which makes it tough to coordinate operations. Well I_m sure if the Americans decide he_s their man they_ll take care of things themselves much appreciated Eila.The Libyan attack is unfortunately not the only terrorist activity on our radar today. A shocking story has emerged from New York City where a suspected terrorist attempted to detonate a thousand-pound bomb in front of the Federal Reserve building in Manhattan. Luckily the FBI was able to thwart the plot. Katherine Curtis has been following this developing story. What_s the latest KatVic a 21-year old Bangladeshi man has been arrested after attempting to blow up the building during morning rush hour. came to the US in January on a student visa. After arriving in New York City he allegedly tried to reach out to members of Al-Qaeda but instead contacted an undercover FBI agent. The feds tracked Nafis for months eventually supplying him with faulty explosives loaded into a cargo van. Authorities nabbed him right after he tried to detonate the bomb. They say there was never any risk to the public Vic.It_s quite the story Katherine. Do we know What kind of charges he_s looking at?Attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempting to provide material support to Al-Qaeda. About as serious as it gets.Some amazing work by the authorities here. One can only imagine the devastation had he been successful. Thanks for the update Kat.We_ll wrap up this first look at today_s Naked News in a Manhattan courtroom where an Iranian man has pled guilty to plotting the assassination of a Saudi Arabian ambassador on US soil. 58-year old Manssor Arbabsiar a used car salesman living in Texas tried to hire an undercover DEA agent posing as a Mexican drug cartel member to carry out the attack.According to prosecutors Arbabsiar was working under orders from the Iranian military. He offered the undercover agent one-and-a-half million dollars to carry out the hit. The plot involved bombing a Washington area restaurant as well as the embassies of Israel and Saudi Arabia. Arbabsiar_s sentencing will take place on January 23rd. His charges carry a maximum sentence of 25 years behind bars. We_ll be right back.

The New York Stock Exchange is completely shut down. And for those of you into other forms of legal gambling so are the casinos in Atlantic City.That_s a LOT of money that isn_t changing hands. I understand that even the presidential election campaigns are being affected. That_s right. Both candidates have canceled stops in crucial swing states due to Sandy. Mitt Romney has pulled out of an engagement in Virginia while President Obama will miss an appearance in Ohio. The President is remaining in Washington so he can monitor the storm_s progress. He visited FEMA and promised Americans that the agency would respond big and respond fast in the wake of any serious damage. Voting on a bill for 60 billion dollars in rescue funding was delayed Tuesday night following heated negotiations on the fiscal cliff. Not surprisingly the delay infuriated representatives of storm-hit states including Republican governor Chris Christie of New Jersey. He basically lambasted House leader John Boehner for not alowing a vote on the bill. On top of that major spending issues such as raising the debt ceiling and massive budget cuts to federal programs loom on the horizon.RW) So lots on their plates Vic.VS) And that_s without touching on other hot button issues like gun control and immigration. We know this is a more diverse government but will it be any less divided than the 112th version of Congress?RW) That remains to be seen although there_s definitely optimism that all these new faces - more than 80 in all - will be more open to cooperation than the last group. American authorities are one step closer to capturing those responsible for the US consulate attack in Benghazi. Libyan officials have singled out one man believed to be the leader of the group behind the assault. Eila Adams has more on this story and joins us now with the latest. Vic according to Libyan authorities witnesses at the scene say that Ahmed Abu Khattala was the man leading the charge. Khattala is a prominent figure of a militant group based out of Benghazi called Ansar al-Shariah. The group has many of the same puritanical and anti-western views as Al Qaeda. Libyan police have yet to bring Khattala in for questioning however. Vic US officials acknowledge that they_ve got their eye on Khattala but still aren_t convinced that the attack was orchestrated by just one man.So if the Libyans are so confident of his involvement why haven_t they brought him into custody yet?For one thing the newly elected government there is still pretty shaky. Plus the military and police force aren_t exactly organized which makes it tough to coordinate operations. Well I_m sure if the Americans decide he_s their man they_ll take care of things themselves much appreciated Eila.The Libyan attack is unfortunately not the only terrorist activity on our radar today. A shocking story has emerged from New York City where a suspected terrorist attempted to detonate a thousand-pound bomb in front of the Federal Reserve building in Manhattan. Luckily the FBI was able to thwart the plot. Katherine Curtis has been following this developing story. What_s the latest KatVic a 21-year old Bangladeshi man has been arrested after attempting to blow up the building during morning rush hour. came to the US in January on a student visa. After arriving in New York City he allegedly tried to reach out to members of Al-Qaeda but instead contacted an undercover FBI agent. The feds tracked Nafis for months eventually supplying him with faulty explosives loaded into a cargo van. Authorities nabbed him right after he tried to detonate the bomb. They say there was never any risk to the public Vic.It_s quite the story Katherine. Do we know What kind of charges he_s looking at?Attempting to use a weapon of mass destruction and attempting to provide material support to Al-Qaeda. About as serious as it gets.Some amazing work by the authorities here. One can only imagine the devastation had he been successful. Thanks for the update Kat.We_ll wrap up this first look at today_s Naked News in a Manhattan courtroom where an Iranian man has pled guilty to plotting the assassination of a Saudi Arabian ambassador on US soil. 58-year old Manssor Arbabsiar a used car salesman living in Texas tried to hire an undercover DEA agent posing as a Mexican drug cartel member to carry out the attack.According to prosecutors Arbabsiar was working under orders from the Iranian military. He offered the undercover agent one-and-a-half million dollars to carry out the hit. The plot involved bombing a Washington area restaurant as well as the embassies of Israel and Saudi Arabia. Arbabsiar_s sentencing will take place on January 23rd. His charges carry a maximum sentence of 25 years behind bars. We_ll be right back.
