Although the fires are predominantly found in sparsely populated areas, several towns have been evacuated over safety concerns. To make matters worse, relentless winds of up to 50 miles per hour have caused the flames to spread quickly. Although hundreds of firefighters have already been dispatched, it may take several more days before the fires are contained. RW) And one of the world_s most wanted Nazi war criminals has died in Germany. Reports have confirmed that Klaas Carel Faber CLASS CARE-ul FAH-bur died of natural causes at the age of 90. Although born in the Netherlands, Faber volunteered for Hitler_s infamous SS unit in his early 20s. After the Second World War, he was sentenced to life in prison for a number of high-profile war crimes. He subsequently escaped to Germany Peyton, where he was able to live out his days despite a number of extradition attempts. PP) Any word on why it was so difficult to extradite him? Letis get right to the news, with word of a MASSIVE bailout in the Eurozone thatis giving the Spanish government some breathing room. Natasha Olenski has been following this story, what can you tell us Nat? NO) Eila, Spanish Prime Minister Mariano Rajoy (mah-ree-AH-noh rah-HOY) is ecstatic over a HUGE bailout that_s aimed at rescuing their banks.EA) What kind of money are we talking about here? NO) It was a HUNDRED billion Euros which converts to about 125 billion dollars. EA) Wow, and here he was saying just a couple of weeks ago that Spain didn_t need a bailout. That_s MASSIVENO) And unlike Greece_ there aren_t many strings attached to the money. So YEAH, he_s a very happy man EIla. Welcome to the newsroom everone. Finance ministers in the Eurozone have agreed to lend Spain up to 125-BILLION dollars to bail out their failing banks. The country has been struggling under the weight of bad property loans and 2 recessions in the past 3 years. But theyire not out of trouble just yet. Despite the bailout n which will help small businesses and the self-employed n Rajoy says this will still be a rough year, with the Spanish economy shrinking by 1-point-7 percent. Add this to the current unemployment rate of over TWENTY percent and you see why Spain_s got a long way to go. A massive wildfire in Northern Colorado has forced thousands from their homes. The blaze was initially measured at just 2 acres early in the weekend, but has since expanded to an estimated TWENTY thousand acres. The wildfire has firefighters scrambling, trying to get local residents out of danger. So far, no fatalities have been reported. At least 18 buildings have been destroyed or damaged.Things could get scandalous within the Obama administration, after the US Secretary of Commerce was cited for 2 alleged hit-and-runs in California. Authorities claim John Brysonis Lexus was responsible for hitting a Buick twice in San Gabriel. He is also accused of hitting a second car in the nearby city of Rosemead. Authorities allegedly later found Bryson unconscious behind the wheel of his car. He was taken to a local hospital, but was released soon afterward. Initial tests came out negative for alcohol, but further tests are forthcoming. His office is saying that he had a seizure but that_s all we know right now Eila. EA) Do we know if we was on government business at the time Nat? NO) No he wasn_t. And because of it, he didn_t have a security detail either. EA) Bet the Republicans are frothing at the mouth with this one. Bosnian Serb leader Radovan Karadzic has finally gotten a chance to tell his side of the story.After nearly 13 years on the run, Karadzic is facing 10 charges of genocide. This is your News off The Top.Karadzic is primarily standing trial for his role in the Srebenica Massacre - a widescale execution that killed 8-thousand Muslim men during the dissolution of Yugoslavia in the 1990_s. During his first day of defense, Karadzic denied the charges and claimed to be a tolerant man who had only wanted peace.He also said he did everything he could to reduce pain and human suffering during the war. He_s accused the media of exaggerating the number of casualties during the conflict. Authorities finally caught up with Karadzic in 2008, where he had been hiding in plain sight for the last 13 years. If convicted of the charges he could face life behind bars. More now from the fallout of last month_s terrorist attack on the American embassy in Libya. The assault killed a US ambassador and has become a hot topic in the US Presidential election. Republican candidate Mitt Romney has been quick to criticize Barack Obama_s foreign policies. On Monday, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton deflected some of the blame by taking responsibility for the incident. Clinton went on to say that she didn_t want to get into any blame game, and that the focus should now shift to tracking down the terrorists and bringing them to justice. Nevertheless, political experts believe the Benghazi attack will dog the Obama administration for the duration of the campaign. We_ll finish up this first look at the headlines with some surprising political news out of Israel. Parliament there has voted unanimously to dissolve itself and hold an early general election next January. That_s almost a year earlier than expected.Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called for early elections last week, mainly because his government was unable to pass a key budget bill, which in turn would have resulted in unpopular spending cuts. Pundits expert a vicious 100-day election campaign, and consider Netanyahu an overwhelming favorite to stay in office. There_s a lot to like about Netanyahu_s leadership. Israel_s economy has remained strong and he_s taken tough stances on foreign policy. It all started with over 300 Police surrounding the home of an Al-Qaeda trained militant accused of the shooting deaths of seven people in Toulouse (too-LOOZ). Victoria Sinclair_s been following the latest developments and joins us now with the latest. VS) Hi Eila. Everyone can breathe a sigh of relief. After 32 hours, the siege of the five-story apartment building of Mohammed Merah (may-RAH) is finally over.EA) That_s VERY good news, but from what I understand, he did not go quietly.VS) Unfortunately that_s true as well. He told authorities he wanted to die with a weapon in his hands, and it looks like he got what he asked for. Here_s what we know right now. VS) Following stalled negotiations and hours of silence between the two sides, French police stormed the apartment of Mohammed Merah at 11:30 am local time Thursday. According to police reports, the 23-year old gunman emerged from the bathroom in a blaze of gunfire and jumped out the window, firing as he fell to his death. Two officers were wounded in the exchange. Earlier, Merah told negotiators that the killings were to avenge the deaths of Palestinian children, as well as France_s military presence in Afghanistan. Australian police are celebrating the capture of THAT country_s most-wanted fugitive. 38-year-old Malcolm Naden (NAY-din) had been on the run since being accused of murder back in 2005. A master outdoorsman, Naden repeatedly managed to elude authorities. But on Thursday police surrounded a campsite in New South Wales and finally got their man. He_s now been charged with murder, the attempted murder of a police officer during a previous manhunt, and two counts of indecent aggravated assault A disturbing scene is unfolding in the African nation of Mali (MA-lee). Rebel forces have appeared on state radio and TV, announcing that they have overthrown the government and assumed command of the country. This just hours after an assault on the presidential palace of Amadou Toumani Toure (ah-mah-DOO too-mah-NEE TOO-RAY). Sources say a number of government ministers have been arrested. The soldiers, who call themselves the Committee for the Re-establishment of Democracy and the Restoration of the State, issued a nationwide curfew and claimed that the country_s constitution had been suspended. Eila, President Toure has yet to release an official statement and his whereabouts at this time are unknown. That_s your first look at the news, back to you. Finance ministers in the Eurozone have agreed to lend Spain up to 125-BILLION dollars to bail out their failing banks. The country has been struggling under the weight of bad property loans and 2 recessions in the past 3 years. But theyire not out of trouble just yet. Despite the bailout n which will help small businesses and the self-employed n Rajoy says this will still be a rough year, with the Spanish economy shrinking by 1-point-7 percent. Add this to the current unemployment rate of over TWENTY percent and you see why Spain_s got a long way to go. A massive wildfire in Northern Colorado has forced thousands from their homes. The blaze was initially measured at just 2 acres early in the weekend, but has since expanded to an estimated TWENTY thousand acres. The wildfire has firefighters scrambling, trying to get local residents out of danger. So far, no fatalities have been reported. At least 18 buildings have been destroyed or damaged.Things could get scandalous within the Obama administration, after the US Secretary of Commerce was cited for 2 alleged hit-and-runs in California. Authorities claim John Brysonis Lexus was responsible for hitting a Buick twice in San Gabriel. He is also accused of hitting a second car in the nearby city of Rosemead. During his first day of defense, Karadzic denied the charges and claimed to be a tolerant man who had only wanted peace.He also said he did everything he could to reduce pain and human suffering during the war. He_s accused the media of exaggerating the number of casualties during the conflict. Authorities finally caught up with Karadzic in 2008, where he had been hiding in plain sight for the last 13 years. If convicted of the charges he could face life behind bars. More now from the fallout of last month_s terrorist attack on the American embassy in Libya. The assault killed a US ambassador and has become a hot topic in the US Presidential election. Republican candidate Mitt Romney has been quick to criticize Barack Obama_s foreign policies. On Monday, Secretary of State Hilary Clinton deflected some of the blame by taking responsibility for the incident. Clinton went on to say that she didn_t want to get into any blame game, and that the focus should now shift to tracking down the terrorists and bringing them to justice. Parliament there has voted unanimously to dissolve itself and hold an early general election next January. After 32 hours, the siege of the five-story apartment building of Mohammed Merah (may-RAH) is finally over.EA) That_s VERY good news, but from what I understand, he did not go quietly.VS) Unfortunately that_s true as well. He told authorities he wanted to die with a weapon in his hands, and it looks like he got what he asked for. Here_s what we know right now. VS) Following stalled negotiations and hours of silence between the two sides, French police stormed the apartment of Mohammed Merah at 11:30 am local time Thursday. According to police reports, the 23-year old gunman emerged from the bathroom in a blaze of gunfire and jumped out the window, firing as he fell to his death. Two officers were wounded in the exchange. Earlier, Merah told negotiators that the killings were to avenge the deaths of Palestinian children, as well as France_s military presence in Afghanistan. Australian police are celebrating the capture of THAT country_s most-wanted fugitive. 38-year-old Malcolm Naden (NAY-din) had been on the run since being accused of murder back in 2005. A master outdoorsman, Naden repeatedly managed to elude authorities. But on Thursday police surrounded a campsite in New South Wales and finally got their man. He_s now been charged with murder, the attempted murder of a police officer during a previous manhunt, and two counts of indecent aggravated assault A disturbing scene is unfolding in the African nation of Mali (MA-lee). Rebel forces have appeared on state radio and TV, announcing that they have overthrown the government and assumed command of the country. This just hours after an assault on the presidential palace of Amadou Toumani Toure (ah-mah-DOO too-mah-NEE TOO-RAY). Sources say a number of government ministers have been arrested. The soldiers, who call themselves the Committee for the Re-establishment of Democracy and the Restoration of the State, issued a nationwide curfew and claimed that the country_s constitution had been suspended.
